#HowWeHeal BOOK CLUB: Expanding Racial Equity

February 11 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

COMING TOGETHER THROUGH A SHARED COMMITMENT TO RACIAL EQUITY This annual Racial Healing Campaign Project is a means to work together throughout the year, on behalf of children, on expanding racial equality and racial healing through our COMMUNAL CAPACITY TO CARE.

This year’s selection is the first self-help book that is a call to action to recognize that racism is not only about the head, but also the body. “MY GRANDMOTHER’S HANDS: Racialized Trauma and the Pathway to Mending Our Hearts and Bodies” by RESMAA MENAKEM is on trauma awareness and resilience and the harmful effects of racism upon black and white communities and the police. It takes readers through a step-by-step healing process based on the latest neuroscience and somatic healing methods. It’s 300 pages long, so that translates into 30 pages per month (February through November) with 5-, 10-, or 15-minute at-home “Body Practices” interspersed.
